Caerphilly Outdoor Education Service operates two climbing walls. One is suitable for traversing and one for vertical climbing.
The traversing wall is a great way for children to learn basic and more advanced movement skill. Pupils using it can work together to help each other. It develops good communication, teamwork and problem solving skill.
Infant and junior pupils can use the wall with minimal supervision without specialist equipment.
Organisations hiring the wall will have the wall erected on site. They also receive an on site safety briefing from Caerphilly Outdoor Education Service instructors.
Mobile climbing wall
The wall itself is 9 metres high, is self-contained on a trailer and takes less than 20 minutes to erect. It can be used by up to 6 climbers at a time and features two optional overhangs as well as an all ability slab section.
The mobile climbing wall is an excellent way of introducing the skills of rock climbing and rope work. It has large holds and colour coded routes. The routes can be made easier or harder by restricting the climber's choice of holds. The wall can also be used as an abseil point for climbers.
Users of the wall benefit in a number of ways. It can build self esteem and confidence.
Organisations hiring the wall can have it erected on any flat area of land. Two Caerphilly Outdoor Education Service instructors provide instruction and all safety equipment is provided.
