Every year from the mid August until end of November a full audit /review of the electoral register is undertaken. Each household in Caerphilly county borough is sent a Registration Form containing the name(s) of the person(s) currently registered to vote at that property (if any).
These details may be correct or may well have changed since last year as a result of moving home, bereavement, change of name as a result of marriage or persons living at the property reaching 18 years of age. The audit / review aims to identify these changes and to keep the electoral register as accurate as possible.
Registering no change to the electoral register
When you receive your annual Registration Form, if there is no change to the details held on the electoral register you simply need to re-register. Re-registering can be done in one of three ways: -
- Automated telephone system
Simply call FREE on the phone number provided. This service is fully automated and available 24 hours a day 7 days a week throughout the registration period (mid August to the end of November). You will need a touch-tone telephone to be able to use this service. During the call, you will be asked to key in your unique security codes printed on your Canvass Registration Form. You will be asked to confirm the household's details and finally to key in your date of birth as a security measure (only one is needed).
- Online registration system
Visit our secure website at www.register-online.co.uk. This registration service is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week throughout the registration period (mid August to the end of November). To access the website you will be asked to key in your 10 digit unique reference number printed on your registration form. By following the simple instructions provided you can confirm no change to your household's registration in a few easy steps.

Any one person named on the Canvass Registration Form must sign and date the form then return it to us in the pre-paid envelope provided.
If you do not register correctly each year you may lose your right to vote and you could have difficulties getting credit. Failure to register could lead to fraudulent use of your vote and identity.
Making amendments to the electoral register
When you receive your Registration Form, if you wish to add or remove names, or make any other changes you will need to strike out any names not applicable and / or write the alterations / additions clearly on the form. One member of the household must sign and date the form and then return it to us using the pre -paid envelope provided.
Making minor amendments
Both the automated telephone system and the online registration system allow you to make some minor changes to the details held on the electoral register. You can: -
- Add or remove names from the edited version of the register. This is the version of the register that can be bought by marketing companies. You will need to 'Opt Out' if you want to reduce the "junk mail" you receive.
