If you are travelling by bus in the Caerphilly county borough there is a choice of tickets available to you. Whether you're making one journey or a regular traveller there's a ticket that will suit you.

FREE travel passes

For some residents, travelling by bus is FREE: -

  • School travel passes - If you are in school or college you may be entitled to free transport or be able to claim back travel expenses. Visit our School travel passed webpage for details.

  • Disabled persons bus pass - This entitles certain people with disabilities to a bus pass allowing free travel on virtually all local bus services in Wales. Visit our Disabled persons bus pass for details.

  • Over 60s bus pass - This entitles people over 60 years-of-age to a bus pass allowing free travel on virtually all local bus services in Wales. Visit our Over 60s bus pass for details.

Buying a ticket

  • One way tickets - If you are just making one journey – just buy a single ticket. The price of the ticket will depend on how far you are travelling.

    Buy your ticket from the from the bus driver using cash. With the exception of Newport Bus, all bus operators in the county borough will provide change however it is always helpful to the driver if you have selection of coins of different denominations. Newport Bus operate a flat fare policy and do not give change. Simply place your money in the box next to the driver.

  • Return tickets - If you are making two journeys and want to return to where you started buy a return ticket. The price of the ticket will depend on how far you are travelling.

    Where two different operators provide a daytime service, a return ticket is sometimes accepted by the other operator, however you should check with the driver before buying your ticket. Where a different operator to the daytime provides the evening service, a return ticket is always valid for travel as the service is provided under contract by the Caerphilly County Borough Council.

  • Day tickets - If you want to travel all day you can save money by buying a day ticket.

  • Regular travellers - If you travel by bus regularly you will save money by purchasing a 1 week, 4 weeks, 13 weeks or 52 weeks ticket.
