Each year, Caerphilly County Borough Council's Mayor chooses a charity/s to support throughout their time in office.
This year, Cllr Gaynor Oliver has chosen to support Ty Hafan, which offers comfort, care and support for life-limited children and young people and is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the whole family.
She has also chosen to support Rhymney-based charity Helping Hands, which is a non for profit organisation set up to support seriously ill residents of the Upper Rhymney Valley by providing a range of support services.
Her chosen charities were announced during a small launch event recently, during which invited guests raised an impressive £3,800. Further fundraising activities planned throughout the year will no doubt see this excellent figure rise considerably.
