Improvements and repairs

The county borough is responsible for carrying out a wide range of maintenance and improvement works.

The Council has made a commitment to deliver the Welsh Housing Quality Standard to all of it's homes by 2019/20. This will involve various programmes of work including roofing, windows, heating, rewiring, kitchens, bathrooms and major refurbishment of a number of our non-traditional properties, as well as environmental works within our communities.

Improvement works to the Council's housing stock has already commenced and has been ongoing for a number of years, in various locations throughout the borough. There is however a requirement to considerably increase the level of work being undertaken in order to achieve the WHQS within the required timescale.

There is also a commitment to improve tenant consultation in order that tenants can be involved in developing an acceptable programme of works and agreeing specifications. Work to engage with tenants is currently ongoing, but we will not be in a position to provide any detail on our larger scale work programmes until these consultation exercises have taken place, as tenants will have input into how the work is packaged and delivered. Further information and details of works will be provided as they become available.
