Refuse and recycling

Please find below an outline of our proposed actions relating to refuse and recycling collections over the next few days (subject to weather conditions and our ability to access side streets):

Saturday 26 JanuaryWe plan to have crews out collecting Tuesday's refuse, food and recycling separately (we may need to comingle the food if we cannot use enough vehicles).
Sunday 27 JanuaryWe plan to have crews out collecting Wednesday's refuse, food and recycling separately (we may need to comingle the food if we cannot use enough vehicles).
Monday 28 JanuaryAll collections should be back to normal and we will have spare vehicles out clearing any properties missed from this week.

We are trying to hire in additional vehicles to help out.

Highways (Gritting)

During the winter season we try very hard to ensure that the roads and pavements throughout Caerphilly county borough are kept safe from ice and snow. As an authority we are responsible for 1150km (718miles) of roads and whilst we are endeavouring to treat the whole network, we have had to prioritise salting 485km (301 miles) of primary roads. Where resources permit we treat all 'A' and 'B' roads and some of the busier lower roads.

Visit our Winter road treatment webpages for everything you need to know about gritting, grit bins and how we keep our roads safe during winter.

Meals on wheels

In preparation for winter weather, meals on wheels clients are given the opportunity during December to purchase two frozen emergency meals. These meals can be kept for up to 3 months in the freezer and used when we are unable to deliver as normal. Please ask your meals on wheels driver for further information.
