Equal treatment from Caerphilly County Borough Council
Caerphilly County Borough Council is opposed to discrimination in any form and we aim to ensure that all sections of the community have access to and benefit from the full range of services we provide. We must comply with a wide range of legislation and employment regulations in the field of equality but in addition to this, we are firmly committed to doing all we can to respect the diverse nature of those who live, work and visit the county borough.
"This council recognises that people have different needs, requirements and goals and we will work actively against all forms of discrimination by promoting good relations and mutual respect within and between our communities and our workforce.
We will also work to create equal access for all to our services, irrespective of ethnic origin, gender, age, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, religion, language or nationality"
These pages set out how we plan to treat everybody equally and fairly, shows you the results of our assessments so far and gives you our contact details if you want to have your say on our Equalities work or if you think we are not doing what we should be doing.
Caerphilly Ward Equalities Profile 2008
Caerphilly County Borough Council is the fifth largest Authority in Wales with 73 Elected Members covering 33 wards. We employ approximately 10,300 staff, making it the largest employer in the area, delivering a wide range of diverse services to the 169,519 people who live in the county borough according to the 2001 Census figures.
Those Census figures also give an indication of the diverse nature of the population receiving those services and the booklet shown below is designed to give an overview of that diversity on a ward-by-ward basis. There are profiles of each of the 33 electoral wards, based on Equalities issues, gathered from the information available from the 2001 Census. A hard copy of the booklet is also available on request.
Each ward profile, listed alphabetically, has a map showing where in the county borough the ward is located and has local population information, both numbers and percentages, on Female / Male population, the 0-25 age group, the 50+ age group (with 65+ also shown), the number of Welsh speakers, the number of permanently sick or disabled, and the ethnic minority population.
