Caerphilly county borough council's, social services Drug and Alcohol Team has the following broad aims:
- To reduce the harm caused by the misuse of substances in Caerphilly county borough.
- To improve the awareness of substance misuse and related issues throughout Caerphilly county borough.
- To improve access to services for any individual experiencing problems related to substance misuse
We offer a service to people who have substance misuse problems and:
- Are requesting residential rehabilitation, or
- Have learning disabilities
- Have a diagnosis of mental illness, or
- Are parents in need of help and support
- Have children who are assessed as being in need, or in need of protection, or
- Are assessed as posing a risk to others, or
- Are people who are defined as vulnerable adults, or
- Have been assessed as requiring community care services.
- There are issues of domestic abuse
We also provide internal and external training to agencies involved in substance misuse.
Anyone requesting this service can expect a comprehensive assessment of their issues and needs. If appropriate we may then arrange services to meet these needs. We also provide a direct professional social work service and this would include:
- Crisis intervention
- Advice giving
- Motivational interviewing
- Brief interventions
- Solution focussed therapy
- Task centred practice
- Cognitive behavioural therapy
- Residential rehabilitation
- Person centred counselling
- Relapse prevention

Our offices are open 5 days a week, Monday to Thursday 8.30am - 5pm and Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm. Visits out of office hours can be arranged if required.
