Ceremony rooms

Your special day should be a happy, enjoyable and memorable event. The staff at Penallta House Register Office are dedicated to ensuring your ceremony is exactly as you want it and carried out in accordance with law.

Important considerations for your day will include personalising your ceremony, organising readings, photography and a suitable venue.

We have 2 rooms in which marriages or civil partnerships can take place at Penallta House, Craig Penallta and The statutory Register Office.

The ceremony room - Craig Penallta

The ceremony room is located at Penallta House, a modern, state of the art building, and is furnished to a very high standard making it an ideal venue for your ceremony. It is situated on ground level and has complete access for pushchairs and people with disabilities.

The room comfortably seats 68 guests but is equally suitable for a much smaller group.

The room has facilities to play music whilst your guests assemble, as you make your entrance into and procession from the ceremony and during the signing of the register. You may choose music from lists we provide but if you have a favourite piece of music we can play this for you, providing it is acceptable and doesn't have any religious content (please discuss this with the Superintendent Registrar or Civil Partnership Registrar before the day).

The statutory Register Office

This room is a small but attractive room in which couples may marry or form a civil partnership in the presence of 2 witnesses and 2 additional guests.

Personalising your ceremony

Your special day can be personalised in a number of ways.

The ceremony itself can be tailored to your individual wishes. You may wish to include a reading, or piece of poetry, or you may like to add your own personal vows and commitments to each other. Any enhancements must not have any religious content, and must be approved by the Registrars prior to the day.

Craig Penallta has a central aisle making it possible for the couple to enter to a traditional or favourite piece of music. It is also possible to add a formal exit following the ceremony, again to traditional music or something special to the couple.

Recordings and photographs

We understand that your day is very special and you may want to record it. A video camera may be used during the ceremony with the approval of the Registrars. Every opportunity is given for photographs to be taken both during and after the ceremony.

There are areas in and around the vicinity of the ceremony room for photographs but we kindly request that guests refrain from using confetti unless it is biodegradable.
