Football Clubs

Club Development Programme

  • Improve coaching and playing standards in existing junior clubs.
  • Help clubs to receive grants for equipment and facilities.
  • Help establish new clubs.
  • Increase girl’s sections at clubs.
  • Help all clubs to become accredited through the FAW Club Accreditation Scheme (pdf 32k).

Girls Football

  • Increase the opportunities for participation and raise the standards of play in girls’ football.
  • Incorporate provision for girl’s football in schools, club development, player development and fun football programmes.
  • Provide support to new and existing leagues.

Junior Clubs

There are 33 junior football clubs in the county borough, catering for various ages from Under 7’s to Under 16’s. These clubs either play in the Rhymney Taff Ely League (affiliated to the South Wales FA) or the Islwyn League (affiliated to the Gwent FA).
