Update on Ty'r Fesen

Acorn House or Ty'r Fesen had its official opening on the 6th March 2013. The short term family accommodation facility was officially opened by Cllr Harry Andrews, leader of CCBC and Ian Gilbert, Chair of United Welsh.

The facility provides 13 family room, two of which are specifically designed to accommodate wheelchair users. There are facilities including a crèche area and gardens, support will be provided to the families to enable them to learn essential skills classes around budgeting and cooking, that will enable families to move on into permanent accommodation.

Home Starter Packs

Due to the ongoing need for the home starter packs, it has been agreed that we will continue the pilot scheme. Over the past year we have issued over 150 home starter packs to help people furnish they homes with essential items, such as a fridge, kettle, toaster, microwave, sofa, bed etc.

Forum

The provider forum continues to be well attended, and recently speakers have included Home Swapper, NEST and Get Caerphilly On line. The forum provides a platform for providers to meet, share information and ideas to develop services

GNME Changes

The Gwent Needs Mapping Exercise form has been changed to take into account the recent changes in SP guidance and the changes to the equality monitoring. The form has been relaunched and the new form will need to be used wef 1st April. We are encouraging the use of our online form, as this is much quicker to complete and automatically updates our systems.

A Caerphilly Local Commissioning Plan has been agreed after extensive public and stakeholder consultation, the plan identifies the partnership working taking place to ensure that Caerphilly's supporting people services complement the strategic priorities of the statutory sector and also respond to the current and future support needs identified within our communities.

The plan explicitly identifies a number of schemes which we would seek to commission over the forthcoming two to three years to help mitigate the difficulties that we anticipate our most vulnerable families and individuals will be experiencing.

The SPNAB and RCC pages on the Welsh Government website are now live and include the agreed minutes from meetings and the current work plans.
