Teacher Resourses

The development of a revised national curriculum has provided schools with many opportunities to embed ESDGC throughout the curriculum. Below we’ve listed some resources available to help schools deliver ESDGC through a variety of curriculum subjects.

ESDGC Toolkits

We have developed a selection of resource boxes (toolkits) to help you incorporate ESDGC into the curriculum. The toolkits are available for free hire to schools on a half term basis. Schools are required to collect and return the resource boxes borrowed.

Please contact the ESD Officer for more information about the toolkits on EVANSTA@caerphilly.gov.uk.

Check out the ESD & GC Toolkits Catalogue (PDF, Kb) to see what toolkits are available. Download the ESD & GC Toolkits booking form (PDF, 13Kb) too.

ESD & GC Curriculum Mapping Resources

Below are examples of curriculum mapping across the key stages. Please use these documents to complete your own curriculum mapping.

NGFL Cymru

The NGfL Cymru website consists of nearly 3,000 high quality downloadable educational resources which support all Key Stages of the Curriculum, from Early Years to Post 16. Many of the resources are interactive, and all have been produced by practising teachers from across the whole of Wales.
The website continues to

  • Provide a single point of reference to sources and resources throughout Wales and from further afield;
  • Provide schools and colleges in Wales with easy, free access to high quality curriculum content in a range of digital formats;
  • Support teaching in the Welsh language and to promote the Welsh dimension in teaching and learning;
  • Assist teachers in the task of raising standards of learning through the application of ICT in teaching and learning in all areas, including ESDGC.

County Borough Supplies

County Borough Supplies is a joint supplies service, established in 1996, by the County Borough Councils of Bridgend, Caerphilly, Merthyr and Rhondda Cynon Taff.

The organisation forms part of the purchasing and supplies structures of each respective authority, providing a local supplies facility for a comprehensive range of goods required by the schools, direct services and all other authority corporate Services. The Joint Service is a self-standing organisation, working in a collaborative partnership with the Procurement Units of the participating authorities. The range of products supplied is related closely to the education sector, typically books and papers, pre-school equipment, art and craft materials, business machines, audio visual, education furniture and sports and games equipment.

The catalogue currently offers a good range of environmentally based products or products which have some environmental benefit over its counterparts. The current production is printed on recycled paper and this has contributed to using 63 tonnes of recycled paper instead of a virgin alternative.

For more information contact County Borough Supplies on 01656 664524
