Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Business Support Team had the opportunity to discuss how the Caerphilly Business Productivity Enhancement Programme has benefitted one of its local manufacturing companies...

Caledan Ltd

Caledan Ltd was created to provide a ‘total building solution’ from design, manufacture, and fabrication through to delivery and installation via their approved network of installers.

Chris Morton, Managing Director of Caledan Ltd explained “We produce light gauge steel in ready assembled framed panels and light gauge steel linear sections which are flat packed and ready for assembly. Both products are for use in the construction industry. The products are used in commercial buildings and domestic buildings, as infill to primary structural frames, or as fully loaded stand-alone  systems – The systems Commonly known in the trade as SFS (Steel Framing Systems) can rightly be described as modern methods of construction.”

Mr Morton accessed the Tech Valley’s Business Productivity Enhancement Programme for both the free diagnostic and grant support for capital expenditure, which has helped fund vital equipment to provide new efficiencies and product lines to the business.

“The Tech Valley’s Business Productivity Enhancement Programme has been quite significant, as it’s provided investment in the business. The new rolling line, new fabrication tables and panels would not have been possible without that investment.”

Mr Morton continues “In terms of support, yes it was very good, we had a diagnostic with an experienced consultant who produced a report, with in-depth research, all of which was very useful. I would highly recommend the complete package to anybody. The assistance received was both beneficial in providing efficiencies in the business and to subsidise the investment in the necessary technologies to achieve this.”
