Fochriw Primary School were delighted to welcome Minister for Environment, Hannah Blythyn to their school on Wednesday 5 December.

During the visit, the Minister was entertained with a presentation led by the pupils about the school’s Mini Police and their role, as well as learning about the Eco Committee’s recent projects which included tree planting, road safety and recycling. The pupils also presented a video on the ‘Wales of the future’ which included how they want Wales to be in the coming years.

The Minister also took part in a question and answer sessions where the pupils asked about fly tipping and the work Welsh Government have been doing to combat this, the Minister’s interest in the Environment, other schools she has visited and her plans for the future.

Mrs Sharon Pascoe, Head Teacher of Fochriw Primary School said: “We were very pleased to welcome the Minister for Environment to our school, who gave the pupils a fantastic insight into her work as Minister for Environment. The pupils were thrilled to show the Minister their fantastic eco projects and their work as ‘Mini Police’.

Hannah Blythyn said: "I really enjoyed my visit to Fochriw Primary. I was so impressed by the children’s enthusiasm and knowledge and the excellent video the children made was a deserved prize-winner. Keep up the good work!"
