Council’s record breaking Christmas appeal
Posted on : 06 Dec 2019
A number of causes have been helped this Christmas thanks to a record breaking appeal by Caerphilly County Borough Council.
On Friday 29th November, staff from Caerphilly County Borough Council took part in a ‘Fashion for Food’ day where they donated items of food in exchange for dressing down. Items of food were also donated from a number of council suppliers and contractors, along with £4,160 worth of vouchers in line with the community benefit requirements in their contracts. Donations were shared out to food banks in Blackwood, New Tredegar, Risca and Caerphilly.
As well as supporting local food banks, donations were also used to fill hampers with essential items and Christmas treats as part of the council’s Operation Santa appeal. Caerphilly Churches Night Shelter project also benefitted from donations to help support rough sleepers during the winter months.
Businesses who donated to the appeal include A L Landsapes, A&R Taxis, Albert & Flaherty, Alun Griffiths, A P Waters, Argie's Coffee, ASE Corporate Eyecare, Ashcrofts Building Contractors, ASW Group, Atlantic Building Services, Biffa (Caerphilly), Bradfords Minibus, Bryn Group, Castell Howell, Colin Laver Heating, County Home Improvements, Decoglass, DNA Heating, FI Walters, G R Tree Services, Garth Farm Contractors, Gibbon Equipment Hire, GKR Maintenance, Glyn Evans Coaches, K B Taxis, Godwin Building Contractors, Heatforce, Hedlyn Building Contractors, Weekes Bros, Hendre Play Club, IDS Security Systems Ltd, James Travel Group, Thomas CMS, Jefferies Contractors Ltd, Just Rails, L&K Kabs, LCB Construction, J S Lee, Lightning Solutions Ltd, Lorne Stewart, Lyreco, M S Catering Supplies, Steve’s Taxi, Mel Evans Building, Millennium Building, Mitie Property Services Ltd, MSH Building, Optec IT Solutions, Orbis Protect, Pinnacle Access, Puddle Ducks, R & M Williams, Rob Sainsbury, Roger Jones & Sons, S D James Construction, Joyner Group, Severn Insulation, Stanley & West Limited, Starlight Electrical Services, Sutcliffe Play, D P Dennehy, Proactis Group, Hope Education, Carters Taxi and Red Cortex.
