Cabinet Approves Plan for Business Rate Relief
Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet has recently approved a local discretionary rate relief scheme to assist eligible ratepayers with their business rates for the financial year 2021/22.

The £452k of funding has been provided by Welsh Government through the Local Government Financial Settlement and aims to identify and support businesses that are not eligible for the Welsh Government’s Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Rates Relief scheme.

Business rate payers in the retail, leisure and hospitality sectors are currently receiving 100% rate relief for the 2021/22 financial year under a separate Welsh Government scheme. This scheme will therefore aim to support those ratepayers who were ineligible.

Cllr Eluned Stenner, the Cabinet Member for Performance, Economy and Enterprise commented:

“I am pleased that as a local authority we can once again continue to support our businesses by utilising the £452k of Welsh Government funding to provide business rate relief for the 2021/22 financial year.

The past two years have been extremely tough on our local businesses and we are pleased to be able to support them in their recovery from the effects of the pandemic.

Moving forward, we will continue to provide support to businesses to ensure that Caerphilly County Borough is a great place to do business.”
