Local business Bryn Meadows Golf, Hotel and Spa will once again be headline sponsor for the Caerphilly 10k for 2018, following the success of last year’s record breaking event.
The ‘Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10k’ will return on Sunday 20th May and promises to be bigger and more popular than ever before. The ever-popular course, which attracts participants from far and wide, will lead runners in and around Caerphilly town centre, passing local landmarks including the iconic Tommy Cooper statue, as well as offering stunning views of Caerphilly Castle.
Cabinet Member Cllr Nigel George said, “We are delighted to welcome Bryn Meadows back as headline sponsors of this popular event for the second year running. It’s great to be working alongside a local family run business with similar aims to us; increasing health and wellbeing and attracting visitors to our area”.
Gary Mayo, Director of Bryn Meadows Golf, Hotel and Spa said, “It is an absolute honour to sponsor the event again this year, which is testament to our commitment to the Caerphilly area and being a market leader for the hospitality industry for 45 years. We are also committed to promoting healthy and active lifestyles; which is shown through our Fusion Wellness Leisure Club and golf initiatives including being Wales’ largest junior golf academy”.
Entry fees for the Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10k this year are £20 for unaffiliated entries and £18 for concessions and affiliated runners. Entry to the Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 2k remains fixed at last year’s entry fee of £6.50. Participants for the 2k must be at least 8 years of age on the day of the event in order to participate.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Dave Poole added “The Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10km is one of the highlights of our annual events programme, attracting thousands of people to Caerphilly from far and wide to participate in what has become one of the largest 10km run events in Wales. I have no doubt that this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever before, and am sure all participants will enjoy all that the occasion has to offer”.
