Cabinet Set To Consider Junior And Youth Forum Priorities

Caerphilly County Borough Council Cabinet is set to consider an ambitious set of priorities for the highly regarded Junior and Youth Forum.
The report was considered by the Education Scrutiny Committee on Monday 11th January and focuses on a number of issues raised by children and young people via both the Youth Services Junior and Youth Forums.
In this report, Cabinet are asked to consider a number of views from both the Junior and Youth Forums. Representatives from both forums have been invited to attend Cabinet to share their views and priorities. At the Annual Youth Forum Conference, young people were provided with the opportunity to explore issues previously raised via borough wide consultations.
The Junior & Youth Fora are structured and organised around five themes: Prosperous Caerphilly; Safer Caerphilly; Learning Caerphilly; Healthier Caerphilly; Greener Caerphilly, enabling children and young people to have a voice on issues that affect them. Junior Forum Representatives are aged 7-11 years; Youth Forum Representatives are aged 11-25 years.

“This report highlights a number of important priorities from both the Junior and Youth Forums. The concerns surrounding a lack of education amongst young people of what to do in an emergency situation and the dangers of speeding cars are essential issues to tackle for the future wellbeing of Caerphilly’s young people. As a cabinet we will be exploring these issues in great detail to make sure that we can assist the forums in the best way possible."
