Transport advice for Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10k

With the Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10k just over a week away (Sunday 19th May), Caerphilly County Borough Council would like to inform residents of the necessary road closures that must be put in place around Caerphilly town centre to ensure the safe running of the annual race.

Residents and visitors to the town on the day are being advised that a number of roads will operate either full or part road closures from 7am until approximately 1pm.

The start/finish line is located on Crescent Road, which will be partially closed from Nantgarw Road to the junction with Heol Trecastell estate from 6am to 1pm, and fully closed between 9am and 1pm.

Cardiff Road through the town centre itself will be closed between 9.00am and 12pm, and the road leading from the Bedwas Bridge roundabout to Van Road will be fully closed between 9.30am and 12pm, while Piccadilly Square (Piccadilly Lights) will be fully closed from 9.00am until 10.15am.

Pontygwindy Road will be closed between 9.30am and 10.45am, and the road between the Pwll-y-Pant roundabout and Bedwas Bridge roundabout will be closed to eastbound traffic from 9.00am until 11.30am.

Access will remain available between Lansbury Park and Mornington Meadows estates throughout.

Due to the nature of the event and the diversions in place, there will also be some delays and some bus stops will not be served by a number of bus routes. There will also be changes to bus routes and where buses will stop in Caerphilly town centre.

Residents on Van Road and Pontygwindy Road in Caerphilly are also reminded that parking restrictions will be in place on the morning of Sunday 19th May to allow the Bryn Meadows Caerphilly 10k to proceed safely. Cones will be placed along both routes on Saturday evening and residents are requested to find alternative parking arrangements.

The council would like to apologise for any inconvenience and hope residents will support the runners and make the event a day to remember.

There is also still time to sign up to take part in the run. For more information or to sign up, please visit
