Caerphilly Castle’s Christmas Ice Rink Returns

Caerphilly Castle is the perfect venue to put a medieval twist on our festive celebrations. Following the massive success of last year, the ice rink is set to return on the 6  December but this time, it’s bigger and better than ever before.

For one month, Caerphilly Castle are opening their doors to a Christmas wonderland where guests can enjoy outdoor skating on an ice rink, indulge in a range of festive treats and can even visit Father Christmas himself.

Skate sessions should be pre-booked online at Tickets are priced at £6.50 for children under 14, £9.00 for adults and £27.00 for families (two adults and two children).

Ten penguin-shaped ‘ice walkers’ per session will be available at an extra cost for younger guests, with children aged 3-7 years only permitted to skate when accompanied by an adult.

Ice skating at Christmas time is a magical experience for all ages and Caerphilly county borough is lucky to have one of the most beautiful rinks on its doorstep.

The event has been organised by Cadw in partnership with Caerphilly County Borough Council, Castle Court Shopping Centre, Caerphilly Town Council, Transport for Wales and 11th Hour.

Cllr Sean Morgan, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Tourism commented, “The return of the ice rink to Caerphilly Castle is welcome news, not only for our residents but also for visitors to the area. We work closely with Cadw to promote Caerphilly as a tourist destination of choice and are please to support them in launching this year’s ice rink and festive events.”
