Night shelter seeks volunteers
A night shelter project in the Caerphilly county borough is seeking volunteers to help provide support to the homeless this coming winter.

Now in its eighth year, the Caerphilly Churches Night Shelter project provides rough sleepers with a warm bed, hot meals, essential support and advice.  There are nine churches spread across the Caerphilly county borough taking part in this year’s project.

The project relies upon the support of volunteers and is run in partnership with Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Housing Advice Team, Cornerstone Support Services Ltd and local churches.

Caerphilly Churches Night Shelter is operational from 2nd January 2020 until 31st March 2020; with volunteers needed for evening, overnight and morning shifts.  Volunteers must be aged 18 or over and training is provided.

An information session is being held for prospective volunteers at 7pm on Thursday 28th November at Oakdale Christian Centre, 23 Central Avenue, Oakdale, NP12 0LP.

If you could help vulnerable people during the most difficult months of the year then you can attend the information session above or you can contact Rev Sue Phillips  on 07817238608 or by emailing sue@elimbaptist.org.uk, alternatively contact Steve Dwyer on 07946 537793 or by emailing dwyers1@caerphilly.gov.uk.
