Operation Santa Appeal 2020
Posted on : 09 Nov 2020
Caerphilly County Borough Council’s annual Operation Santa Appeal Launches today!
There are over 500 children across the borough who are at risk of not receiving a gift this Christmas and Operation Santa aims to provide presents to those nominated by their social workers.
This year, our Operation Santa Appeal has had to adapt due to the ongoing pandemic. As a result, we are unable to accept gift donations as we have in previous years and are asking that residents instead pledge vouchers/gift cards. Social Workers who are in direct contact with the families will then purchase the gifts for the children.
Please do not wrap your voucher/gift card, instead place it into an envelope and ensure it is clearly marked with the information below:
Please limit the value of each individual voucher/gift card to £10.00.
Our pledge line is now open until Friday 4th December and provides a quick and easy way for generous groups and individuals to pledge a voucher/gift card for a child this Christmas simply by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 01443 866577.
The unwrapped gift cards need to be taken to a collection centre by Monday 7th December.
The collection centres are as follows:
Post box at the front of Penallta House, Parc Tredomen, CF82 7PG.
Caerphilly Leisure Centre, CF83 3SW.
Newbridge Leisure Centre, NP11 5FE.
Heolddu Leisure Centre, CF81 9GF.
Risca Leisure Centre, NP11 6GH.
Cefn Forest Leisure Centre, NP12 3JX.
Bedwas Leisure Centre, CF83 8BJ.
Whiterose Learning and Resource Centre, NP24 6EF.
Cllr Shayne Cook, Cabinet Member for Social Care has said, “This year has been extremely difficult for everyone and because of that, it is more vital than ever to ensure that children receive a gift this Christmas. Operation Santa is such a worthy cause and can only be achieved through the generous donations from businesses and residents of the borough.
“On behalf of Caerphilly County Borough Council, I would like to thank all of those who have participated in the appeal previously for your donations and continuous support and I know that Operation Santa 2020 will be just as successful as previous years.”
