Shingrig Road - Transport for Wales Update 15.11.2021
Shingrig Road Bridge

A structural assessment for Shingrig Road (TBD 13m 58ch) overbridge has been undertaken, and some areas were identified which require further investigation.

Transport for Wales are currently looking at strengthening measures aimed at ceasing the existing traffic management arrangements.

We will need to complete further investigatory works to ensure our proposal is feasible.

At present, traffic management is deterring vehicles from loading the parapet girder (which is the particular area of concern).

We recognise the importance of this structure to the local community, however, we need to complete all investigatory works before providing a definitive solution.

We are continuing to discuss our approach with the appropriate partners, to include local authorities and emergency services.

As we further investigate the best options to improve the structure's functionality, we will continue to prioritise the safety of customers above (and below) the structure.

We have been made aware of some road users “jumping” the traffic lights, which is an obvious concern.

The existing traffic management arrangements are paramount to the safety of the structure, and we are asking everyone to remain patient and adhere to the traffic management in place whilst we continue our investigations.

Please consider any potential delays when planning your journey.

This structure remains a priority for Transport for Wales and its partners and we appreciate your patience and understanding in this matter.
