My time, My Space, My Library – Libraries Week

National Libraries Week runs this year from October 8th to 13th. The focus is on wellbeing and Caerphilly County Borough Library Service are taking the opportunity to encourage everyone in the community to discover what the Libraries can do for them.

Libraries can still supply you with the books you want to read for pleasure but now Caerphilly’s Libraries also offer a wide range of other services, and activities, for people of all ages both in the library and online.

Activities range from Lego Clubs, Rhyme Times, to Code Clubs or Knit and Natter sessions. Many libraries host Digital Friday sessions which aim to help customers get online – need an email set-up or help searching for a job online? These are just some of the help you can receive during Digital Friday sessions.

Many of our libraries also have free Wi-Fi which is simple to use allowing you to surf the web on your own digital devices.

Through our website you can manage your account allowing you to renew your books or order the book you want to read from the comfort of your own home.

You can also download eBooks, eAudioBooks, eMagazines or eComics for free and in your local library family history buffs can access AncestryLibrary.com and Find Your Past while those learning to drive can access Theory Test Pro – a site designed to help learner drivers pass their theory tests.

Cllr Philippa Marsden, Cabinet Member for Education and Achievement said: "Our fantastic libraries are really important community hubs and a place where everyone is welcome. I hope that people see this as an opportunity to take a fresh look at their local library, discover the range of free events on offer and encourage their friends and family to do the same.”

To access all these services all you need is a Caerphilly Smartcard. Go to the libraries section on our website to sign up today.
