Work is underway on a development that will bring 34 new affordable homes to Risca town.

The site at Mill Street, Risca is being developed by housing provider Pobl Group in partnership with Caerphilly County Borough Council and contractor Morganstone.  Work began to develop the site in summer this year.

£5.3 million is being invested into the site, which includes £2.6 million Welsh Government funding.  When completed, in summer 2019, the site will offer a range of tenures, including social rent and shared ownership.

Neil Taylor, Head of Development Pobl (East) said “We are delighted to be working closely with Caerphilly County Borough Council to deliver another high quality development in the borough;  hot on the heels of the 29 homes for sale and rent, recently built at nearby Kennard Point in Crumlin.

Located in a prime position in Risca, Mill Street will offer local people the opportunity to either rent or buy a new home through our popular shared ownership scheme."

Cllr Lisa Phipps, the council’s Cabinet Member for Homes and Places, said “Providing high quality affordable housing is a key priority for the council.  We are pleased to be working in partnership with Pobl on the Mill Street development, which will provide much needed affordable housing in a desirable location within the county borough.”
