Cabinet agrees housing vision
Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet has today (Wednesday 27 October) approved a Local Housing Strategy, setting out its strategic priorities for the next five years.

The Local Housing Strategy provides a framework for the council and its partners to tackle a range of housing needs including homelessness, housing disrepair, a lack of suitable accommodation etc., which prevent people living in safe, good quality, affordable homes located in vibrant and sustainable communities.

‘Caerphilly County Borough Housing Strategy: An Agenda for Change (2021 – 2026)’ was produced following consultation with members of the public and other key stakeholders.

It sets out a vision for housing throughout the Caerphilly county borough; focussing on the provision of new housing, the maintenance and improvement of existing homes, and the services which support people to access housing and maintain independence to remain in their homes for longer.

This vision also focusses on the wider community, the environment and maximising community benefits from the investment that will be made into housing over the next five years.

Cllr Lisa Phipps, the council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, said “As a council we are committed to ensuring everyone is able to access safe, secure, suitable, affordable housing.  This revised strategy gives us a clear focus on how we can work with our partners to achieve this.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took the time to take part in the consultation process; their views have been vital in developing the final strategy.”
