The Leader supports Remembrance Parades to continue

The Leader announces a package of support to aid Remembrance Day Parades and Armistice Day Parades to go ahead.

The council has worked in partnership with many event organisers over the years to assist with the logistics of applying for road closures and other H&S considerations. The historical partnership is set to strengthen as the council will now become responsible for providing Road Closure Orders, signage and staff to control traffic and supervise junctions in addition to providing the insurance cover for the event.

Leader of Council, Cllr. Philippa Marsden said, “The past 18 months has been hugely challenging for everyone and I am acutely aware of the challenges facing the event organisers this year. Local organisers take immense pride in organising such poignant events and I feel it is particularly important to do what we can to support these events to continue.

She continued, “In true Team Caerphilly style, we will pool our resources to work hand in hand with the community to galvanise our partnership and of course to enable the events to operate smoothly and safely.”
