Groes-Faen Terrace, Bargoed to close for five weeks for highways repairs

Following extensive ground investigations and drainage surveys Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Highways Team have determined that the drainage on Groes-Faen Terrace, Bargoed requires replacing to prevent further ground deterioration.

The anticipated start date for the road and drainage replacement works is the 18th October 2021 and are expected to take seven weeks to complete.

Groes-Ffaen Terrace Road up to the junction with Factory Road will be closed for five weeks plus an additional weekend closure together with one week of single lane closure. The A469 / Factory Road will not be closed during these works. Diversion map (PDF)

Pedestrian access will be maintained where practicable, however, the pedestrian diversion route will be along the Darran Valley Cycle route also known as Bristol Terrace.

The main bus route will be diverted, full details can be found on our website. Pupils and schools affected have received revised pickup times. Please note the pickup locations will remain the same but will be undertaken in the reverse order.

These are complex and deep excavation works and the only way these works can be undertaken safely is by means of a road closure. All other options have been considered prior to confirming the road closure as an agreed approach.
