Caerphilly mourns Her Majesty
The Caerphilly county borough joins the rest of the country and the Commonwealth to mourn the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
 
Flags
As a mark of respect, the flags at council sites are being flown at half-mast in line with the formal protocol.
 
Books of Condolence
Books of Condolence are available to sign at the following locations from Friday 9 September:
  • Penallta House
  • Blackwood Miners Institute
  • Caerphilly Visitor centre
 
Additional books of condolence will also be made available at libraries and visitor attractions over the coming days.
 
Proclamation
A reading of the Proclamation on the accession of a new Sovereign will take place on Sunday 11th September on the steps of the Twyn Community Centre, Caerphilly, CF83 1JL, at 4pm.
 
The public are advised to arrive by 3.45pm as the ceremony will begin promptly at 4pm. The Twyn Car Park will be closed that day.
 
Council Business
Council services will run as normal throughout the period of mourning, although some public meetings and events will be cancelled during this time in keeping with the protocol during this period of national mourning.
