Certificate fees

Below are the fees and charges from 16 February 2019.

The charges vary depending on whether a ‘standard service’ or a ‘priority service’ is required.

Standard service

Fee £11.00

Makes provision for a certificate to be issued:

  • To the customer in person on the day of registering a birth, death, marriage or civil partnership, or
  • To be posted to the customer, by 2nd class post, or collected between the hours of 10am and  3pm, by 15 working days after application and payment made. An additional £2 administrative fee will be payable if the customer requires a certificate to be posted using registered/signed for mail.

Priority service

Fee £35.00

Makes provision for a certificate to be issued: 

  • To the customer in person before the next working day, or
  • To be posted to the customer by 1st class post before the next working day. Applications and payments to be made between 9am and 3pm. Applications after 3pm will be treated as being made on the next working day but still incur the priority fee. An additional £2 administrative fee will be payable if the customer requires a certificate to be posted using registered/signed for mail.

Additional search fees

  • Search one year either side of a date specified - No charge
  • Five year search (specific years given) £5
  • 10 year search (specific years given) £18
  • Only one five year search will be allowed on a name and dates given
