Early Years Workforce Development

A career in childcare is very rewarding. We constantly strive to have a sufficient level of highly trained, competent childcare workforce. The skills that childcare staff possess and the quality of their work makes a huge difference to the learning and developmental experiences of the children they work with. Through research we know that good quality childcare, especially in a child’s early years, has a positive impact.

The Caerphilly Early Years Workforce Development Service offers advice, guidance and financial support on childcare training opportunities, and careers into the childcare sector.

The training includes:

  • Statutory and regulatory training
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • National Qualifications

Early years and childcare qualifications

We offer support to individuals wishing to access some early years and childcare qualifications in accordance with the Care Council for Wales ' List of Required Qualifications to work within the Early Years and Childcare Sector in Wales' (terms and conditions apply).

We also offer a subsidised 'Regulatory' and 'Continuing Professional Development (CPD)' training programme for those currently working in childcare within Caerphilly county borough.

New website coming soon! - Our new Early Years and Childcare website will be launched at the beginning on May 2022 and will include information about childcare training and workforce development. In the meantime, information about training will be sent to all childcare providers and early years staff by email as an e-bulletin. You will receive this week commencing 4 April 2022. This bulletin will include information about the training available throughout May, June and July and an online form to request a place. If you do not receive this, please contact the Early Years Hub on 01443 863232 or email fis@caerphilly.gov.uk.
