Support and working groups

Support Groups

If you are a foster carer in Caerphilly county borough, there are a number of support groups you are welcome to attend.

Career Carer Development Group

All venues are open from 9.30am for tea and coffee. We will start promptly at 10am.

Following the review of the Career Carers' Development Groups in November 2013 it has been decided to merge the Blackwood/Risca and Bargoed/Rhymney groups. Therefore we will only organise two geographical groups. Venues for the development groups will be confirmed in your reminder letters.

Men Who Care

These are drop in sessions and all male carers are welcome to attend. Please can you let us know if you wish to attend any of the sessions so that we can organise the buffet.

This workshop will help you develop:

  • skills in advocating on behalf of looked after children
  • confidence in promoting your role within foster care

The workshop will also help you identify sources of assistance in promoting the rights of all those involved with foster care.
