The Community Trigger was introduced by the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014. Its purpose is to provide an opportunity for victims of persistent anti-social behaviour to request a review of actions taken by agencies when they feel these actions have not been adequate to resolve the anti-social behaviour.
What is the threshold for review?
Victims of anti-social behaviour must have reported to the local authority, Police or registered social landlord at least three separate incidents in the last 6 months. Victims of hate crime must have made one complaint in the last 6 months.
For the Community Trigger to be activated incidents must have been reported to agencies within one month of the incident occurring to allow a timely adequate response. The application to activate the Community Trigger must be made within six months of a reported incident.
How can the Community Trigger be activated?
