Coronavirus: improvement and closure notices

All Local Authorities in Wales were granted powers under the Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) (No. 2) (Wales) (Amendment) (No. 4) Regulations 2020 which came into force on 10 August 2020, to control, minimise and prevent the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

When the Council is made aware of an issue, that highlights that a business or premises are not adhering to COVID-19 regulations the Council has a duty to act and ensure that the public is protected.

Local notices/closures in the Caerphilly county borough

Under these regulations (Health Protection (Coronavirus Restrictions) (No. 2) (Wales) (Amendment) (No. 4) Regulations 2020) the Council has served the following notices on the below premises:

  • COVID-19 Compliant
  • Needs Improvement
  • Closed due to continued noncompliance

Improvement notices

Improvement Notices have been served on the following premises across the Caerphilly county borough following a number of failures to comply with COVID-19 regulations, these may include, but are not limited to, lack of regulation of social distancing and provision of hand and cleaning sanitiser. 

  • There are currently no notices in place

These businesses will now be granted 48 hours to correct the issues that have been highlighted or further enforcement action will be considered, including the option to issue closure notices. 

Closure notices

Closure Notices have been served on the following premises across the Caerphilly county borough following continuous failures to comply with COVID-19 regulations, these may include, but are not limited to, lack of regulation of social distancing and provision of hand and cleaning sanitiser.

  • There are currently no notices in place

hese businesses will now be granted 168 hours to correct the issues that have been highlighted or further enforcement action will be considered, including the option to issue further closure notices.

If you have visited any of the premises listed above and are symptomatic you advised to:

  • Book a test online
  • Call 119

The public are reminded that the regulations are there for their protection and if they feel a business, area or premises are not complying, they should not enter or participate in the activity – we all have a personal responsibility to control the spread and help Keep Wales Safe.  

Residents are also reminded that as part of the Test, Trace, Protect service if you are symptomatic and receive a positive test result you should self-isolate and remain at home for at least 10 days and anyone you have been in contact with should self-isolate for 14 days even if they feel well or receive a negative test.
