Covid-19 Planning, building control, enforcement and land charges advice
Guidance on planning applications and enforcement
Due to the closure of Tredomen House to members of the public we are changing the way we process planning applications.
Pre-application advice
Our duty officer service has been suspended until further notice. We will continue to provide a statutory pre-application advice service.
New applications
Please submit all planning applications via the planning portal: https://www.planningportal.co.uk/wales_en/ and pay your fee online.
Invalid applications
Please ensure that applications forms are fully and correctly completed and signed, all necessary plans are accurate and supporting information is submitted. Your cooperation and diligence in this respect will reduce the pressure on limited office staff resources. Any invalid applications will not be processed and will be delayed.
Current applications
We will continue to process current applications although service will be disrupted. Case officers can be contacted by telephone or email, however, applications will be determined on their own individual merits as submitted with limited negotiation. Prompt agreement to any requests for an extension of time will assist officers in caseload management during this period of disruption.
Planning Committee is currently being carried out virtually and a recording of each meeting is subsequently published online.
Enforcement
Please submit all enforcement complaints online.

Site inspections
Site inspections are reviewed daily in line with government guidance. We will continue to attend site once it has been established that it is safe to do so. If not we are likely to recommend postponing the inspection, or if appropriate, assessing the work through some other method.
Dangerous structures
Please contact us by telephone or email to report potentially dangerous structures and we will endeavour to deal with them in the usual manner.
Coronavirus (COVID-19) - Personal Search Arrangements
Council buildings have now been closed and there is currently no access to the Local Land Charges Register. Personal Search Agents are therefore requested to contact individual departments within the Council to obtain information held under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004, their details are as follows:

You can also still forward a request for an official Land Charges Search – see ‘Apply for a Search’ below. If you wish to submit a search and pay by BACS, please email landcharges@caerphilly.gov.uk who will confirm the fee required and provide you with the BACS details.
