College transport applications for the 2020/21 academic year that commences in September 2020 will continue to be accepted. Please be aware that as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic, and with public transport operating at a significantly reduced capacity, extensive changes may have to be made to college transport arrangements and the way they have to be delivered.

The Integrated Transport Unit will be working closely with colleges to determine their plans for students returning to college in September and will ensure that the most appropriate transport provision is provided in order to accommodate the latest Welsh Government guidance.

How will I be informed if my college transport application has been successful?

Your college transport application will be assessed in accordance with the Council's college transport policy and you will be written to with the outcome of your application. Applications for the 2020/21 academic year will receive a response within 28 days.

When do I get my pass?

Coleg y Cymoedd (Nantgarw)

Passes are ordered by the Integrated Transport Unit and delivered directly to the college within 28 days of receipt of a completed application. No transport is provided during the 28 day application period. The process does not commence until the date that the Integrated Transport Unit receives your correctly completed application form. You will need to pick up and sign for passes once they have been received by Student Services.

Coleg Gwent

Confirmation of your approval will be emailed directly to student services at Coleg Gwent within 28 days of receipt of a completed application, and they will issue you with your bus pass on enrolment day, or your first day in college. The process does not commence until the date that the Integrated Transport Unit receives your correctly completed application form.

What modes of transport are used for Colleges?

Transport is provided by either contracted bus or a season ticket for use on the local public transport services. The Council determines the most appropriate transport arrangements for you. If you are in receipt of a concessionary bus pass you will not be ordered a season ticket as you are already entitled to travel free on public transport.

In the event that a bus pass is lost or stolen or destroyed, a duplicate will only be issued on receipt of a small charge.

  • £5.00 bus pass issued by the Integrated Transport
  • £10.00 season ticket issued by a Public Transport provider

To arrange a duplicate bus pass / season ticket you should contact the Integrated Transport Unit.
