Milk in schools

The Welsh Government provides one third of a pint of milk to every child as follows:

  • Free milk for key stage 1 pupils. These include pupils in reception, year 1 and year 2 of primary school
  • Welfare under five school milk scheme. This provides to all nursery classes

Milk to junior school pupils

Some schools in Caerphilly county borough provide milk to key stage 2 pupils in junior school (8-11 years of age).

This is part funded by the EU School Milk Subsidy Scheme. Milk is sold at a reduced cost and parents are charged per term in advance. Contact your child's school to find out if they support this scheme.
