Childcare Offer for Wales

The new Welsh Government Childcare Offer is now available across the county borough and could bring huge financial savings for eligible parents working 16 hours or more per week.

From the term following their 3rd birthday, children could be entitled to 20 hours of government funded childcare. This is in addition to the 10 hours already provided by the part-time Foundation Phase and up to 30 hours of childcare during the school holidays.

Parents could receive the funding until they are offered a full time education place, usually the September after their child’s fourth birthday potentially saving families in the region of up to £4,725 per year.

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for free child care you must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Your child is aged 3 or 4 years who is able to access part time education 
  • You live in Caerphilly County Borough


  • You work 16 hours per week or more, or
  • You earn the equivalent of working16 hours at national living wage or national minimum wage?, or
  • You are in receipt of specific caring benefits

How to apply

To apply you will need to complete an application form and return it to us. We will then check your eligibility and write to you to confirm if you are eligible.
