Nant Llesg Surface Mine
Caerphilly County Borough Council has received a planning application for proposals by Miller Argent (South Wales) Ltd to recover 6 million tonnes of coal by surface mining methods on 478 hectares of land to the west of Rhymney, north of Fochriw and south of the A465 Heads of the Valleys Road.
Members of the public may inspect copies of the information at Ty Pontllanfraith, Blackwood Road, Pontllanfraith during all reasonable hours until 5pm. It is also available for inspection at Rhymney Library, Bargoed Library, Deri Library and Nelson Library.
Caerphilly County Borough Council will report planning application 13/0732/MIN for the surface mine and associated works at Nant Llesg, north of Fochriw, to its Planning Committee on 10 June 2015. The application will be deferred for a members' site visit at that meeting, which will take place on 23 June 2015. The application will then be reported to a Special Planning Committee on 24 June 2015.
The Special Planning Committee will be held in the Council Chamber at Penallta House, Tredomen Park, Ystrad Mynach, CF82 7PG. It will start at 2.00 p.m. The timetable for the meeting will be as follows: -
- Introduction by the Chair of the Planning Committee - 15 minutes
- Procedural matters discussed by the Head of Planning and Regeneration or Development Control Manager - 15 minutes
- Case officer to outline the scheme - 30 minutes
- Objectors to the scheme - 45 minutes
- Non-Planning Committee members - 30 minutes (without prejudice to the right of the Council's members under its Constitution to address the Planning Committee)
- Applicants and supporters of the scheme - 45 minutes
- Discussion and decision by the Planning Committee
