CCBC Cabinet takes to the road
A group of senior CCBC councillors will visit communities across the Caerphilly county borough to discuss new opportunities and consider key issues affecting local people.  
 
The council’s Cabinet are keen to get out on the ground and see for themselves the various opportunities and challenges facing the community.
 
Leader of Council, Cllr Sean Morgan said, “I have pledged to deliver positive change for the residents of the county borough and a key part of this process is to better understand the ‘hot topics’ within our towns and villages.”
 
“We will be making visits to all parts the county borough over the coming weeks and as a cabinet we are looking forward to using this opportunity to expand our knowledge and understanding of the issues that matter the most to local people.” 
 
The group first visited Caerphilly town centre to view a number of ambitious development sites that will transform the fortunes of the town in future:
  • The proposed site of a new and enhanced leisure centre development on Caerphilly Business Park, which is currently subject to a bid for Levelling Up Funding from UK Government .
  • Caerphilly rail and bus station, which is earmarked as the site for a major new public transport interchange hub.
  • The existing indoor market on Pentrebane Street, which will make way for an ambitious mixed use residential and retail development. A key part of this is the relocation of the market traders to alternative accommodation within the town. 
  • The site of a planned boutique hotel development on Park Lane opposite the town’s magnificent castle 
Deputy Leader, Cllr Jamie Pritchard said: “We have bold and ambitious plans to transform Caerphilly Town Centre over the next few years and it is useful to visit the various sites to discuss the issues around each planned development.”
 
“Our impressive plans, outlined in the Caerphilly Town 2035 Place Making plan, clearly demonstrate that we are committed to delivering positive change for the residents of our county borough. We are working closely with Welsh Government and a range of key partners to make these plans a reality and we look forward to seeing lots of exciting progress in the near future.”
