Blackwood Town Centre’s Winter Fair is the second successful event of the festive season for Caerphilly Borough
Posted on : 30 Nov 2022
The second Winter Food and Craft Fair of the season within Caerphilly Borough took place in Blackwood Town Centre on Saturday 26
th
November. An impressive number of just over 9,000 people visited Blackwood to join in with the festivities that were being held, this being the highest footfall to an event in the town since 2018 and the busiest day of the year for Blackwood.
There was an array of food, drink, and craft stalls in attendance as well as Santa and his sleigh, lots of funfair rides and plenty of entertainment including local choirs, schools and community groups. The event made a really positive impact on local businesses with 3576 more visitors in attendance than the previous Saturday.
Despite the weather visitors came out in their droves to enjoy all that the town centre has to offer, with local retailers having a much-needed boost. Visitors had an opportunity to enjoy all the activities and attractions put on for the event as well as supporting local businesses.
Hear what local businesses and councillors thought about the event:
Huw Edwards of Tidal’s Stores LTD commented “It was really good, I thought. It’s a benchmark for the town. We need these events as they bring people into town, and it’s become a staple of the Christmas calendar. It’s lovely to see the high street busy and show what Blackwood has to offer.”
John Hold, Town Clerk of Blackwood Town Council, said “Given the appalling weather the number of people in town on Saturday shows there is an appetite for such community events in the town and they will readily support them. Congratulations and thanks to the Borough Council Events team for organising this event.”
Cllr Jamie Pritchard, Cabinet Member for Prosperity, Regeneration & Climate Change, said “Blackwood town centre had the highest footfall this year and also the highest footfall for the winter fair since 2018! I’d like to thank the traders, residents, events staff, and Blackwood Town Council for their efforts. It goes to show what can be achieved when we all work together”.
We are hosting two more Winter food and craft fairs during this year’s festive season at:
Caerphilly Town Centre- Saturday 3rd December
Bargoed Town Centre- Saturday 10th December
Come along to our other FREE Winter Fairs to experience some Christmas magic!
