Contractor’s donation helps Caerphilly get connected
Posted on : 07 Nov 2022
Construction expert Willmott Dixon has donated 10 laptops to support community groups in the Caerphilly county borough.
The contractor is currently working with Caerphilly County Borough Council to help deliver its ambitious house building programme.
Groups who have benefitted from the donation so far include Caerphilly Miners’ Centre, where the laptops are being used to support those using its dedicated Ukraine support café sessions. Risca’s We Connect café project have also received laptops to help local residents access online services.
Caerphilly Uniform Exchange, a recently established social enterprise, is using their donated laptop to help them with record keeping and day to day running of the organisation.
Cllr Shayne Cook, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, said “As well as increasing the supply of affordable housing to help meet ever increasing demand in the county borough; the Council is committed to maximising the investment being made through our new build programme to deliver wider benefits for our communities.
“I’d like to thank Willmott Dixon for this generous donation, which will help many residents who may previously have been digitally excluded, as well as supporting the growth of local social enterprises.”
Ian Jones, Director at Willmott Dixon said of the donation, “During the construction of the projects we have delivered for Caerphilly County Borough Council, we have worked in a number of ways to support the local and wider community where we can. We were delighted to be able to make this donation of laptops as part of our social value commitment to help those people who need it most.”
