Caerphilly Adventure Group
The Caerphilly Adventure Group (CAG) provides outdoor activity opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.
Caerphilly Adventure Group is made up of a team of volunteers that work in partnership with Caerphilly County Borough Council's Outdoor Education provision, namely, Caerphilly Adventures.
All official CAG activities are covered by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) via Caerphilly Adventures. Such events are also covered by CCBC’s public liability insurance.
This allows CAG to provide adventurous activities to children and young people under the age of 18 within the scope of the licence. These activities include:
- Water sports
- Trekking
- Indoor climbing
Adult activities undertaken by the group include:
- Kayaking, canoeing and Stand Up Paddle Boarding
- Mountaineering and hill walking
- Camping and expedition
- Bushcraft
- Gorge walking and Adventure Walking
- Cycling
Many of our volunteer leaders hold National Governing Body Awards such as Mountain Leader Award, Climbing Wall Award, Mountain Bike Leader, Paddlesport Coach and first aid training.
Our ethos is to invest in volunteers by securing funding to develop their skills and qualifications so in return they can arrange and lead activities for CAG.

Participants should be aged 8 and over and subject to an assessment in the water prior to joining. We ask that participants wear a tee-shirt over swimwear for the sessions. All equipment is provided.
Monthly meetings
The Caerphilly Adventure Group meets every two months at 7pm at Tredomen and Business Technology Centre, Tredomen Business Park, Ystrad Mynach, CF82 7FN
Dates are confirmed via email to members.
The monthly meeting provides a chance to catch up and plan future events. New members are welcome to attend, as it is a good opportunity to meet others and find out what's going on. Guest speakers and members deliver short presentations on activities or trips they have undertaken.
Other activities
We have a walking group that walk frequently throughout the month. Details of each walk event are sent via email beforehand and members are requested to book their place with the walk leader.
Other events are advertised via email and at meetings and via Caerphilly Adventure Group.
