We are seeking experienced engineering professionals to join our Transport Strategy and Development Control team and support the authority to maintain and expand Council’s highway network.

Principal Engineer

Salary: £46,549 - £49,590 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Engineer to lead and manage the Caerphilly Council’s Transport Strategy and Development Control team.

You will join one of the largest authorities in Wales working on all aspects of protecting the integrity of the Council’s highway network from the activities of developers and protect the Council from liabilities arising from inadequately constructed new roads or highway improvements provided by developers.

Together with your team, and the wider organisation, you will have the opportunity to shape transport policies and strategies. You will also act as the client manager for specific transport capital engineering projects and schemes and consultancy services. This includes competent financial management and control.

This is an exciting and varied role and requires strong leadership skills and a sound knowledge of the rapidly changing transportation policies and an up to date technical knowledge related to highway development control and highway agreements.

Senior Engineer

Salary: £38,296 - £41,496

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineer to join our Transport Strategy and Development Control Team.

As part of your role you will advise on appropriate terms of agreements to be entered into with developers under relevant sections of the Highways Act, arrange for the inspection of developers’ highway works and initiate and complete adoption of these in addition to maintaining the Authority’s Highway Design Guide for Residential and Industrial Development.

It is essential that you have experience developing and implementing transport strategies, managing staff and budgets.

In this role you will be required to manage, monitor and give guidance to others within the team on financial and technical matters including some of a non-routine nature.

Senior Transport Planner

Salary: £38,296 - £41,496

You will join the Transport Strategy and Development Control Team as a Senior Transport Planner.

In this exciting and varied role you will contribute towards identifying the needs, developing delivery programmes and monitoring delivery and financial control for transport strategy and road safety schemes across the County Borough.

You will work with key stakeholders to undertake feasibility studies for transport projects and schemes, Identify and analyse highway problems relating to transportation and the environment and work proactively to suggest innovative solutions to improve the network.
