Computers and wifi

All libraries offer library members free access to the internet on our PCs.  You can also access the internet on your mobile devices - laptops, tablets and mobile phone - through the free Wi-Fi available.

Public access to PCs

If you are a member of the library you can use the Internet and Microsoft Office software in all our libraries. Although booking is not essential we recommend that you book a computer in advance by contacting the library.
We offer the following facilities on all our library computers:

  • Internet access
  • Microsoft Word for word processing
  • Microsoft Excel for spreadsheets
  • Microsoft PowerPoint for presentations
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader to view PDF documents
  • Shortcuts to our online databases
  • Access from the desktop to our library catalogue
  • Printing
  • Scanning

You can use USB devices to save your work.

Printouts cost 10p per page for A4 and A3 in black and white and 50p for A4 and A3 in colour.

WiFi and WiFi printing

We also encourage you to ‘Bring Your Own Device’ to offer greater flexibility and utilise our Free Wifi access.

WiFi Printing is also available at BargoedBlackwoodCaerphillyRhymneyRisca and Ystrad Mynach.

You can now print to any of the library printers (at participating sites), anytime, anywhere from an Android or iOS device and then collect during library opening hours.  Further details can be found here.

Digital Fridays

Library staff can offer customers basic assistance with their IT issues but for greater support to get online or to use technology then consider attending one of our open access, drop-in Digital Friday sessions that are available at various locations across Caerphilly. The sessions are suitable for anyone (16+) and are relaxed and informal.
