Pay your rent

Council tenants in the Caerphilly county borough are being asked to give their views on the rent that they pay.

We encourage prompt payment and you can choose to pay your rent in one of the following ways:

By Direct Debit

We encourage all our tenants to pay their rent by Direct Debit.

Paying by Direct Debit will save you considerable time and effort. There are no cheques to write, no paperwork or postage and there's no queuing because we can arrange payments for you with your bank or building society. It's also safer than cash and what's more, if you change your payment method to Direct Debit today you will receive a one off payment of £20, which will be credited to your rent account. The Direct Debit will be taken monthly in arrears on the last working day of each month.

For a Direct Debit form, contact the Rents Section or download a form below:

No scanned/email copies of this form can be accepted please ensure original mandates are sent via post to our office.

By post

Please do not send cash through the post and please write your rent account reference number on the back of the cheque or postal order.

At your local post office

If you wish to pay at your local post office please call 01443 866583.

Payment by housing benefit

For tenants who are either on low income or unemployed, housing benefit is available to assist with the payment of rent.

You are responsible for payment of your rent and you must pay any amount not met by housing benefit. We will also expect you to make arrangements to pay any outstanding arrears. Arrears can arise very quickly if you do not provide information asked for or do not re-apply when your circumstances change or your claim is reviewed.

Having difficulties paying your rent?

The tenancy conditions, which you sign at the start of your tenancy, mean that by law, you must pay your rent regularly and not get into debt. If you do not pay your rent on time or you do not pay at all we will have to take legal action which could result in you losing your home.

Visit our Problems paying your rent? webpage for further information and advice.
