Countryside Service

There's no better place than the outdoors for some fresh air and exercise. Our green spaces in Caerphilly County Borough are all great places to enjoy our wonderful natural environment and they're on your doorstep.

If you are a regular user of our green spaces and, like us, think that these are fabulous places, you might be interested in helping to put a little bit back into these important community assets. We’re always interested to hear from individuals or groups who would like to spare a few hours and help us look after our green spaces. This could be either as a regular commitment or as a one-off.

What can volunteers do?

  • Litter picking – maybe you have a few spare moments to help keep your favourite space clean
  • Completing wildlife surveys – to help us with the management of our wildlife areas
  • Leading walks – our Healthy Walking Groups need new walk leaders and full training and regular support will be provided
  • Be part of the Local Access Forum – provide advice to Caerphilly Council, Natural Resources Wales and Welsh Government about improving public access to the countryside for recreation and enjoyment in the Caerphilly County Borough area

What can you expect from us?

We see our volunteers and helpers as an integral and valuable part of the service.  It’s important that our relationship with you is mutually beneficial so we will:

  • ensure the work is appropriate and right for you and your interests
  • provide any necessary training and instruction
  • support and offer regular feedback

How do I get involved?
