Spirafix Ground Anchoring Ltd, a local business thriving with support from CCBC and UK Government funding

Spirafix Ground Anchoring Ltd are a well-established business that produce and distribute ground anchors, located in Cwmcarn. The local business is directed by Paul Clatworthy and Anthony Morgan.

Their current products’ green credentials are a replacement for concrete, as they have expanded the range and use instead of concrete was previously used. All products are fully recyclable and have a 50-year life cycle. Their current sector for sales is the renewable energy industries using brown field sites and tarmac area for the installation of solar production.

Current work is being carried out across the UK on solar car stores, car parks with solar panels above. The business also does work for the National Grid, large blue-chip contractors, as well as supplying anchoring for Lyndon SGB, the UK’s largest scaffolding company.

Spirafix have also supplied ground anchoring for festivals such as Glastonbury and Boomtown and have undertaken work for Wimbledon.

The business was awarded £12,660.56 Capital and £1271.50 Revenue through the CEF Business Development Grant.

Overall, Spirafix Ground Anchors Ltd have received £13,932.06 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This grant was dedicated towards Spirafix Ground Anchors Ltd through Caerphilly County Borough Council’s intervention of UKSPF funds. The grant was matched funded by the company to help move into bigger premises and relocate to the area. They employed 9 members of staff and are hoping to create 2 new immediate start jobs as well as future jobs with predicted growth.

Before receiving the grant, they had been working within the Newport authority for the past 20+ years. After a R&D exercise they have increased their business by 15% and the growth is continuing due to longevity of contracts.

The businesses future plans are to keep growing, keep production going, and to increase the number of piling machines they have.
