Proud Councils shortlisted for PinkNews Award
Proud Councils has been shortlisted for the Public Sector Equality award and this year’s PinkNews awards.
 
Proud Councils is a group of 8 South Wales local authorities committed to improving support offered to LGBT+ staff within local authorities in Wales and ensuring that local government across Wales is a visible leader in the field of LGBT+ rights, actively championing LGBT+ inclusion in our communities.
 
Currently, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Merthyr Tydfil, Cardiff, Newport, Caerphilly, Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend and Swansea take active roles in the Proud Councils partnership.
 
This year, Proud Councils has been shortlisted for the Public Sector Equality award. The Public Sector Equality award celebrates those exceptional parts of the UK’s governmental or other public bodies that are making a change for the better.
  
Councillor Carol Andrews, Cabinet Member for Education & Communities and LGBTQ+ Champion said: “We are thrilled that the Proud Councils partnership has been recognised for its work for LGBTQ+ inclusion.
 
“Caerphilly County Borough Council are committed to promoting respect and diversity in our communities, and to ensuring that Caerphilly County Borough and all of South Wales remains an inclusive place to live and work for all.”
