Sport & Leisure Service welcomes two KickStart employees
Posted on : 07 Jun 2022
The Kickstart scheme allows employers to create high quality 6-month work placements to support young people to gain meaningful work.
The kickstart scheme in Caerphilly has created job placements ranging from administration and care worker support, to social media and marketing positions.
The Sport & Leisure Service was hugely affected by the coronavirus pandemic, closing for long periods of time and having to implement strict social distancing measures. However, Leisure Lifestyle has now been able to secure two job placements through the scheme.
Jacob, who is now working at Newbridge Leisure Centre commented, “I found the job advert through the CCBC job page and then worked with my employment mentor to officially apply for the Leisure Attendant role”.
“I go to the gym regularly to better myself and could see that I would be able to help others better themselves in the same way. I was offered the position and felt huge relief to be employed in a role that I really wanted. I’m really excited to work hard and not let the team down”.
Kian, who was successful in gaining the position at Risca Leisure Centre added, “I was delighted and over the moon when I got the job but felt quite anxious at the idea of starting my first full time job”.
“I have learnt so many new skills and I am really looking forward to achieving my lifeguard qualification at the end of the month. I have worked at Risca Leisure Centre for the last six weeks and really hope I can continue to work in the leisure services at the end of my contract”.
